Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) has just rewritten the record books. FY25 saw the company achieve its highest-ever annual domestic tractor sales, an astonishing 407,094 units—a solid 12% jump from the 364,526 units sold in FY24. That’s not just growth; that’s market dominance in action.
And March 2025? A blockbuster month. Domestic sales surged 34%, hitting 32,582 units, compared to 24,276 units in March 2024. What fueled this meteoric rise? Soaring demand, historically low dealer inventories, and a thriving agricultural sector.
It wasn’t just a strong finish; it was a year of sustained momentum. Total tractor sales, including exports, reached a staggering 424,641 units, reflecting a 12% increase over FY24. But exports? They stole the show. Mahindra shipped 17,547 units overseas, marking a 27% growth year-over-year. In March alone, exports skyrocketed by 35% to 2,352 units.
Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector, attributed this phenomenal growth to a robust rabi harvest, improved cash flow for farmers, and favorable market conditions. In February 2025, Mahindra had already signaled strong momentum, reporting a 19% rise in domestic tractor sales with 23,880 units sold, up from 20,121 units the previous February.
Mahindra wasn’t the only player making waves. Escorts Kubota Limited also recorded a 15% rise in domestic tractor sales for March 2025, moving 10,775 units, up from 9,355 units in March 2024. Their total sales, including exports, hit 11,374 units, reflecting a 13.4% jump. Bharat Madan, Whole Time Director and CFO of Escorts Kubota, pointed to strong seasonal demand and better financing options as key drivers behind their success.
This boom isn’t limited to a single company. India’s entire agricultural machinery sector is thriving. In February 2025, domestic tractor sales skyrocketed by 35.9%, with 58,797 units sold. The April-February period saw total sales reaching 859,767 units, a 7% year-on-year increase.
Experts believe that by 2026, India’s domestic tractor sales could surpass the 1 million-unit milestone. The reasons? A favorable monsoon, increased crop production, and strong government support for mechanized farming.
Mahindra’s record-breaking FY25 performance isn’t just a win for the company—it’s a testament to the shifting dynamics of Indian agriculture. More farmers are embracing mechanization, demand is soaring, and Mahindra remains at the forefront of this transformation. With an unmatched portfolio of top tractors and an unwavering commitment to innovation, Mahindra is setting the pace for the future of farming in India.Stay updated with 91tractors for all the latest news, updates, and insights related to new tractor launches, agricultural machinery, and industry trends. 91Tractors is a rapidly growing digital platform designed to provide you with accurate and up-to-date information about the tractor industry, including specifications, pricing and dealerships.
